People and their pets are always popular stories in the news.  A  recent Forbes article explored the popularity of pets-Pet Ownership Statistics 2024, Jan 25, 2024. Here are some highlights:  

•  66% of U.S. households (86.9 million homes) own a pet.  
• More than half of pet owners (51%) consider their pets to be as much a part of their family as a human family member.
• In 2022, Americans spent $136.8 billion on their pets, up nearly 11% from 2021 ($123.6 billion).

In Bedford there are approximately 1,196 dogs licensed.  There is no information on cats and other pets.
