Cliff’s Notes

Dear Bedford Public Schools Community,

In my last update of the year, I am very pleased to share this joint statement from the Bedford School Committee and Bedford Education Association announcing the details of a tentative contract agreement for education support professionals (ESPs) reached last night. I am grateful for the strong collaboration with the ESP negotiating team and we are happy to recognize their hard work and dedication with this contract. Unfortunately, it appears that we have reached an impasse on the financial offer with the BEA teachers, though we have greatly appreciated the thoughtful collaboration and cordial tone of our bargaining sessions to date. We will be seeking the support of a neutral state mediator to facilitate discussions going forward.

As we head off for the summer, I’d like to re-share the Both Sides Now musical collaboration as a reminder about the both/and-disposition that was represented in our collaborative negotiations with our educators. I look forward to this open-minded and collaborative spirit as we work together as a community to determine our strategic priorities for the next three years. I am so proud of how hard our staff and students worked this year!

Enjoy the last day of school on Monday, June 17th, and have a wonderful summer!
