Jessica Cavallaro Arrested in Murder of Her Parents on Washington Street

Jessica Cavallaro, 24, of Bedford, was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in Concord District Court for the murder of her parents earlier in the day.

The victims, both age 56, had not yet been officially named by authorities as of 4 p.m., but it was confirmed that they were the parents who live on Genetti Street. They were shot in their vehicle.

Cavallaro was scheduled to be charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Middlesex District Atty. Marian Ryan, flanked by Police Chief John Fisher, provided the basic information at a press conference a few minutes before noon.

Ryan said the Bedford public safety dispatcher fielded an emergency call around 9 a.m. on Thursday reporting the shooting. She said the report was from a “significant other” who resides with Cavallaro.

“She went back into the house and told him she had shot her parents,” Ryan said.

The initial report was that the shooting occurred at 11 Washington St., but investigators quickly realized that the car rolled to that yard from across the street at 10 Washington St.

Ryan used the occasion to call attention to continuing “horrific incidents of domestic violence” and the availability of firearms. A handgun was recovered at the scene. Cavallaro, who was not believed to be known to police, was not licensed to have a gun, according to Ryan.

There hasn’t been a murder committed in Bedford since October 1982.

Many of the area residents were shocked at the shootings in what is usually a quiet neighborhood.

“This is startling. It’s not what happens here. It’s shocking. It’s horrible. It’s just scary,” said one resident, mirroring the feelings of many other neighbors.
