BHS Class of 2024 Graduates on Thursday Evening at the Tsongas Center

June 3, 2024

The 67th Bedford High School commencement is scheduled for Thursday beginning at 6:15 p.m. at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.

One hundred ninety-five graduates will join the ranks of BHS alumni, accepting diplomas from the chair of the School Committee, Sarah Scoville.

Featured speakers will be graduating seniors Aleksandr Ryabinkin, history teacher John Wysokowski, who joined the faculty in 2013, and BHS Principal Heather Galante. The principal’s daughter Cate Galante, president of the Class of 2024, also will speak, as will Superintendent of Schools Cliff Chuang.

The ceremony will be livestreamed through Bedford TV and viewers can access the event through this link: https://youtube.com/live/Ch3NLTmdbeo?feature=share.

“This is a special class for me, as I have known so many of them since their elementary years,” the principal said in an email. “It has been such a privilege to witness their growth. They have added to the positive culture of BHS. They will be missed.”

Music for the ceremony will be provided by the BHS Symphony Orchestra and the Honors Choir. Twelve senior vocalists will lead “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

The Tsongas Center, owned by the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, has served as the venue for BHS graduations for more than 10 years. Prior to that, the ceremonies took place on Sabourin Field, which was fine except on rainy or excessively hot days. The BHS gymnasium was the backup location, and the room, without air-conditioning, could not accommodate all guests.

Other high schools that hold graduations at the Tsongas include Lexington, Andover, and Chelmsford, as well as Lowell.
