Bedford Teacher Talks at an ‘Impasse;’ Support Professionals Reach Agreement

It’s a classic good news-bad news report.

In his final regular weekly update of the 2023-2024 school year, Superintendent of Schools Cliff Chuang on Friday announced a tentative contract agreement between the school committee and education support professionals, represented by the Bedford Education Association.

He also announced that “it appears that we have reached an impasse on the financial offer with the BEA teachers.” He added, “We will be seeking the support of a neutral state mediator to facilitate discussions going forward.”

Both contracts expire on June 30. The last negotiating session was on Thursday evening.
