The two four-by-800-meter relay teams representing Bedford High School last week at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, OR demonstrated that Buccaneers don’t take a back seat on an elite stage.
The girls’ foursome of Grace Niu, Farrah Scott, Anna Massaro, and Zadie Buckley finished 15th out of 25 teams in the championship group with a time of 9:51.42.
The boys’ team – Will Protasowicki, Oren Brosgol, Jonathan Garraway, and Carter Rauch – came in 22nd out of 36 teams in the emerging elite group with a time of 8:20.36.
“The groups of ‘championship’ and ‘emerging elite’ were based on the entry time qualifications,” explained BHS spring track and field coach Rich Donnelly. “The championship group has a higher time standard for entry. The boys missed the championship qualifying time by a fraction of a second.”
