Bedford’s two members of the General Court of Massachusetts – the state Legislature — will be unopposed on both the Sept. 3 State Primary Election ballot and the Nov. 5 General Election ballot.
State Rep. Ken Gordon of Bedford and state Sen. Mike Barrett of Lexington both have been serving since 2012.
The state elections office confirmed the lone candidacies following last week’s deadline for filing nominating petitions.
The 21st Middlesex District in the House of Representatives covers all of Bedford and Burlington and an additional precinct in Lexington. Gordon, who faced a primary challenger in 2022, hasn’t had a Republican opponent since 2016.
Gordon said he is “honored” that his constituents “have the trust and confidence in me to continue on as their state rep. I will not take your support for granted and continue to earn your trust.”
Barrett’s district stretches from Weston to Chelmsford and includes Concord, Carlisle, Lincoln, Waltham, and three Lexington precincts as well as Bedford.
