The Bedford Trails Committee invites everyone to a free guided walk around the less-traveled southside of Hartwell Town Forest and to discover the future site of a new boardwalk that will restore foot passage between the long-divided halves of the forest. The walk, which will be led by Ray Gilmartin of the Bedford Trails Committee, takes place from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 1.
The walk will begin and end at the parking area outside the Hanscom AFB FamCamp.
The meet-up location is in the parking lot behind the Bedford Free Public Library on Mudge Way at 9:45 a.m.
The weather on Saturday is expected to be warm and partly cloudy. The hike pace will be easy-to-moderate, and the trail is relatively flat, but muddy in places, so please take this into account when selecting footwear.
Children and dogs are welcome to join in the walk, which will take place regardless of the weather.
Check the Bedford Trails web page for any weather-related changes, as well as info on past and future walks: https://groups.google.com/group/bedfordma-trails.
