Rolling the Dice for a Cause: Babe Ruth Brings the Casino to Town

Submitted by Bedford Babe Ruth Baseball and Softball

The American Legion was completely transformed into a local casino on the night of Friday, April 26 for a fundraiser hosted by Bedford Babe Ruth Baseball and Softball. The event was a huge success and a ton of fun.

Full size casino tables with professional dealers, a tarot & palm reader, DJ, and a generous silent auction display welcomed supporters, all rallying for the youth baseball and softball program.

Uplighting, a photobooth, casino-themed décor, and giant illuminated playing cards added to the excitement of the event.

Although people felt like they were in a real casino, playing with “Buc Bucks” took away any of the stress of the gamble. Many felt it was a great way to get dressed up and have fun with friends, while staying local and supporting a cause for the kids.

An assortment of silent auctions that were generously donated helped raise funds for field equipment and new gear, scholarships, and keeping the registration costs down for players. From rides in a police car and fire truck, luxury vacation homes, interior design services, salon and car detailing services to sports tickets, there was a wide variety of things to bid on.

Food was generously provided by Bliss Confections, Jersey Mike’s, Ken’s Deli, Minuteman Diner, Pepper’s Grille, Steve’s Pizza, and Wegmans. The organizers thank all of the local businesses and community members who contributed to the event.

BBRBS sends its sincerest “thank you” to the parent attendees and donors who joined in for Black & Blue Casino Night, and to the generous contributions from many local businesses and the community.

The funds raised will go a long way for the Bedford Babe Ruth baseball and softball organization, ensuring that youth in the community have access to develop their skills and foster a love for the game.
