The principal of Davis School for the past 11 years will be leading a kindergarten through sixth grade elementary school in Georgetown beginning July 1.
The appointment of Beth Benoit as principal of Penn Brook Elementary School was announced on Tuesday, and acknowledged at that evening’s meeting of the Bedford School Committee.
On Wednesday evening, Superintendent of Schools Cliff Chuang said in an email, “I met with Davis staff yesterday and today, and also consulted others, and will be sharing a plan to fill the principal vacancy within the next week or so.”
School Committee members individually congratulated and thanked Benoit, who was present as part of the team recommending a new literacy curriculum for the elementary grades.
“It truly has been an honor to be part of this community,” Benoit said at the meeting. “I work with the best faculty. The work that they do every day has made my job meaningful.”
She added, “I couldn’t imagine a better group of kids over the last 11 years.”
Benoit came to Bedford from the Boston Public Schools as an early childhood curriculum and assessment specialist. She previously served as director/principal of early childhood education and child find for the Englewood, CO, Public Schools.
