Bedford will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 27th

Residents are invited to attend Bedford’s annual Memorial Day events on Monday, May 27.

The schedule of events is as follows:

  • 8:30 a.m. – Assemble at the American Legion Post
  • 8:45 a.m. – Proceed to Shawsheen Cemetery
  • 9:15 a.m. – Shawsheen River
  • 10 a.m. – Old Burying Ground
  • 10:45 a.m. – Bedford High School Fallen Veterans Memorial Tribute
  • 11 a.m. – Parade begins at Mudge Way and goes to Veterans Memorial Park.

The parade will stop at the World War 1 Memorial on The Great Road where there will be brief remarks by Bedford Historical Society followed by a rifle salute, TAPS before continuing.

  • 11:15 a.m. – Parade arrives at Veterans Memorial Park for Memorial Day Ceremonies

In case of heavy rains, outside activities will be canceled and Veterans Memorial Park ceremonies moved indoors to the Bedford High School Auditorium. Bedford residents will be notified of change in venue via a town automated phone notification.

Prior to the event, sections of The Great Road will be closed between Hillside Avenue and Mudge Way. Residents should expect detours in the Town Center. Roads are expected to reopen prior to 1 p.m.

In observance of the holiday, Bedford Town offices will be closed on Monday, May 27 and will reopen with normal hours on Tuesday, May 28.
