Residents from the Bedford Green and Pleasant Street Apartments enjoyed watching the Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels from the Home Base Suite at Fenway Park on April 14 – all expenses covered, including a hot buffet meal and dessert.
A collaborative effort between Peabody Properties and HUD/VASH partners made this visit possible, as did ACL Transportation that eagerly offered free transport for Bedford Green residents (HUD/VASH Creative Arts Therapist Nadene transported the PSA residents in a VA Van). Also helping were traffic police who ensured the vans were able to drop and pick up the residents at the gate and that both vans had free and easy parking options.
The evening also featured stories and moments, including a 94-year-old resident attending, one resident who had never been to Fenway, and a third who said he hadn’t been to a game in Boston since the 1980s.
Younger people in the area thanked the residents for their service.
