The Bedford High School boys’ tennis team had their first big win of the season against long-time rival Wayland at home on Friday, 3-2.
Friday’s win was big for the Bucs, who lost to Wayland in state finals two years ago and in the semifinals last year.
First singles player Dillon Denny-Brown came from behind for a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win in Friday’s big win against Wayland.
The first doubles duo of Leo Natalizio and Charles Demeo as well as second doubles Ryan Liu and Rylan Nichols also came out on top against the Wayland Warriors.
On Monday, Bedford collected another win, topping Waltham on the road, 4-1.
Next up for the Bucs is a 4 p.m. home match against Weston. They will be on the road in Westford at 4 p.m. on Friday.
Thanks for the article! Huge win for the Bedford boys indeed, as Wayland was also ranked #1 in D-2 tennis (Bedford plays in D-3), and had a regionally ranked super-freshman join their already deep team at #1. Bedford also won its first 2 matches before the Wayland match against D-1 Newton South (4-1) and solid D-3 power Gloucester (4-1). It does not get any easier, as next Bedford boys play D-3 #1 ranked and perennial state tennis powerhouse Weston today, Weds, as you noted, and then #1 ranked in D-1, Westford, on Friday at Westford. Bedford beat Westford last year 3-2 at Bedford for an excellent team win, so this Friday’s match will be a spirited one for sure between two talented teams.
