Here are services available to Bedford families offered through Bedford Youth and Family Services:

FOOD SECURITY

  • Bedford Food Bank:

The Bedford Food Bank is open from 4 to 5:30 p.m. every Thursday in the rear of the Town Center Building, 12 Mudge Way. Registration is not required and the only information collected is an individual’s zip code and household composition. Individuals and families in need are encouraged to drive up and have their cars loaded by Food Bank volunteers. Food is provided by the Greater Boston Food Bank, Gaining Ground, and Food Link. Diapers and personal care items are available as well upon request. If a person has a significant barrier and is unable to make it to the Food Bank, phone 781-275-7727 to arrange for delivery.

  • SNAP Assistance:

The Town of Bedford has become a Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) partner with the Department of Transitional Assistance. SNAP is a monthly cash benefit for individuals who meet income guidelines in order to provide help buying food. Town social workers are available to assist individuals with signing up for SNAP, uploading documents, and completing re-certification. For more information or to apply for SNAP, phone 781-918-4328.

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

  • Interface Bedford Services:

The INTERFACE Referral Service is a free, confidential, outpatient mental health resource and referral helpline available to Bedford residents and students of Bedford Public Schools from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays. Residents can call INTERFACE directly at 888-244-6843. Individuals are matched with licensed mental health providers on average within four to six weeks. Each referral best meets the location, insurance, and specialty needs of the individual calling. Visit https://interface.williamjames.edu/community/bedford for more information.

  • Mental Health Counseling at the Youth and Family Services

Licensed clinicians through the Town’s contract with Eliot Community Human Services are available by appointment, in person, or via telehealth for all Bedford residents and BPS students. When using Eliot’s services, residents are not required to make a co-pay, and lack of insurance is not a barrier to access counseling. For counseling, call 781-275-7727 or Eliot CHD directly at 978-369-1113.
