Cathy Cordes, Bedford’s former Town Moderator, and her husband Ron traveled from their home in Pennsylvania to view the eclipse with another pair of Bedfordites – Nancy and Rich Daugherty.

The Daughertys now live in Bloomington, Indiana, in the path of totality for last week’s celestial event.

Cathy Cordes writes:

“We drove out before the weekend – arriving Friday so we could avoid traffic issues.  And we left the Tuesday after and it was an easy drive home.

“We are very happy that we went. It was a wonderful event and the weather was just perfect! We stayed with Rich and Nancy and watched the eclipse with many of their neighbors in the complex where they live. We were joined by Rich’s daughter Liana and granddaughter Olivia (age 12).

“Olivia took the total eclipse picture attached. She downloaded an app on her phone that helped her adjust the settings for a good picture and then created a filter for the lens from a pair of eclipse glasses. The other photo is one I took with a wispy cloud over the eclipse image. The next two images show some of the ‘updraft’ clouds that I thought were beautiful and a view of the crowd with us watching the eclipse.

“The eclipse is amazing to see and certainly made me feel very small in comparison with the universe. It’s a very humbling experience.”
