The winners have been named for the Bedford Free Public Library’s 14th annual Peeps® Diorama Contest. The library calls this “the most delicious time of the year.” It’s also a very creative time of the year.
This year’s contest attracted 43 very imaginative Peeps® creations – the most ever. During the seven-day public viewing period, 120 votes were cast. Many of the categories were decided by a single vote.
Here are winners, announced at Thursday’s award ceremony:
- Peeple’s Choice: Gamara and Ultra Peep vs Godzilla by James Harrison
- Grades K-5 First in Class: Peeps® Take Over Pokemon by Landon Carlton
- Grades 6-12 First in Class: Peeps® in Venice by Faith Holland
- Adult/Family First in Class: Remarkably Bright Peeps® by Jennifer Harrison
- Staff Bragging Rights: Peep the Cat: Rockin’ with Murphy by Nicole Monk, Head of the Bedford Library Children’s Services
All contestants were required to use colorful candy Peeps® as the foundation for their theme-based dioramas. The participants then designed and built the main feature using any shape, color, or flavor of Peeps®, as desired. The finished work could not exceed 18 inches wide by 18 inches deep. Approximately 381 full-sized Peeps® were utilized among the entries.
The Peep-themed Award Ceremony also showcased a beautiful cake topped with 12 additional Peeps®; a plate of green and red grapes was encircled by 20 more sweet Peeps®.
