It’s Peeps® Time at the Library!

Submitted by the Bedford Free Public Library

It’s time for the 14th annual Peeps® Diorama Contest!

As the Bedford Free Public Library says, “it’s the most delicious time of the year” when those harbingers of spring-colorful candy Peeps®-become the foundation for theme-based dioramas.

Everyone is invited to build a diorama using any shape, color, or flavor of Peeps® as a main feature. Drop off the diorama anytime from now through March 18 to be entered in the contest. Stop by the library between March 19 and March 25 to see this year’s creativity and vote on favorites.

Every entrant will receive recognition, and the top votes in each age category (Grades K-5, 6-12, Adult, and Family – mixed ages), and the top popular vote will earn a prize at an awards ceremony on March 27.

Spotlight your creativity! Here are some ideas from past years’ contests: “Cast Away” and “Peep Sox Nation” from the 2014 contest. Oftentimes it’s a current book or TV series that becomes the theme for a diorama. Harry Potter themes have been popular in past years.

Here’s what you need to know to get started:

The Rules

  • Peeps® must feature prominently in your diorama.
  • Limit one submission per individual/team contestant.
  • Your finished work must not be larger than 18 inches wide by 18 inches deep.
  • You must submit a completed copy of this form with your entry. (Available at the library or to download here).
  • Entries must be submitted by 7 p.m. on Monday, March 18.
  • Submitted entries will be displayed publicly.

The Awards

  • The public is invited to view entries on display in the library from Tuesday, March 19 through Monday, March 25 and to cast their votes for the “Peeple’s Choice” Award.
  • Other honors include the coveted “Best in Class” award for each age category.
  • Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27 at the Awards Show to be held at the library. All are invited to attend the celebration.
  • You are welcome to bring your dioramas home. Entries must be claimed by 7 p.m. on Monday, April 1 or else they’ll be eaten!
