“A Year in the Life of a Beehive and its Beekeeper” is the title of a presentation being sponsored by the Bedford Garden Club on Tuesday, March 12 at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 25 The Great Road.
A social period will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Guest speaker Amelie Behaeghel will begin her talk after Garden Club President Patty Carluccio holds a brief business meeting starting at 10 a.m.
This program is free and open to the public. The presentation will depict activities in and around a beehive from January to the fall’s honey harvest. Also included will be a discussion of pollen and nectar-producing blossoms that are attractive to honey bees.
Behaeghel put her engineering and research experiences towards keeping honey bees and developed a group of talks under the title, “The Fascinating Honey Bee.” She has been working for an organic candle and honey shop where, in addition to making candles, she educates customers about honey bees.
