Eighteen Bedford High School student-athletes are scheduled to compete in the MIAA Division 4 indoor track and field championship on Sunday in Boston.
Qualifying for the girls’ state meet are Angelia Scott (55-meter hurdles), Anna Massaro and Addison Poulter (one-mile run), Josie Donnelly (600-meter run), Zadie Buckley, Grace Niu, and Elena Protasowicki (1,000-meter run), Farrah Scott (300-meter run), Emma Floyd (two-mile run), and Ciara Shelton and Eliza Dickert (high jump).
Among the boys, Jonny Garraway will run in both the one-mile and two-mile, and Matteo Oliveri Kuhnle in the 300M and long jump. Other competitors are Carter Rauch (600M), Will Protasowicki (1,000 Meter), Sahill Rotella (two-mile), Vineet Joseph (high jump), and Martin Nguyen (long jump).
Ariane Sweetland (600M), Sam Sheahan (two-mile), and Oren Brosgol (600M) also qualified, but are unable to participate in the state meet.
The BHS girls’ and boys’ teams both captured second place among the small schools in last Sunday’s Dual County League championships. The girls tied for first in the DCL small for the regular season and the boys placed third.
The girls’ 4×400-meter relay team of Niu, Buckley, Scott, and Shelton placed first among all DCL schools in 4:17.23.
Other top Bedford finishers – among all DCL competitors – were Buckley (second in the 1,000M), Rauch (third in the 600M), Brosgol (fifth in the 600M), Garraway (fifth in the one-mile and fifth in the two-mile), Shelton (fourth in the girls’ high jump), Joseph (sixth in the boys’ high jump), and Poulter (sixth in the mile).
