COA Offering Monthly Educational Breakfast Workshops

The Bedford Council on Aging is offering a robust calendar of events in 2024, including educational monthly breakfast workshops. 

The workshops, offered on the second Thursday of the month, will feature industry experts and a variety of topics focused on safe and healthy aging.  

  • The first monthly breakfast is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11 with a workshop titled “DIY Decluttering/ How to Declutter.”  Whether considering a move or staying in place, you can live a lighter life by letting go of clutter. Utilizing local move management resources, participants will consider the rooms in their home where clutter can become problematic and how to start this overwhelming task. All are welcome for breakfast and to receive decluttering tips, tricks, and a list of trusted resources.

Save the Date for more upcoming Bedford Council on Aging Monthly Breakfast topics:

  • Thursday, Feb. 8 at 9:30 a.m.: “Home Safety – Preventing Falls and Injury at Home.”

With more than 60 percent of falls in older adults occurring at home, safety within the current residence is of extreme importance. Learn how making safety modifications within your environment can help prevent falls and other accidents.

  • Thursday, March 14at 9:30 a.m.: “Understanding Your Options – The Decision to Downsize.”

For those considering a downsize, the options can be complex and overwhelming. Having a clear understanding of the landscape will help as you begin to determine if a move might be beneficial in your future. Learn from senior living experts on how to best evaluate your options.

  • Thursday, April 11 at 9:30 a.m.: “Healthy Conversations About Aging.” 

Conversations with adult children and family members about your next chapter can be stressful and emotional. Open communication can be critical when considering the future. Hear more about how to start these conversations with your loved ones from an expert geriatric care manager.
