The 2023 John Glenn Middle School boys’ soccer team finished their second consecutive season undefeated with a 9-0 record.

With many players joining soccer for the first time or after taking time off, the team was very large with 32 players. With talent across the board, the Bucs were able to highlight the individual strengths of all players.

Goalkeepers Noah Andelman and Luke Robinson, a newcomer to soccer, combined for eight shutouts and only allowed one goal all season.

This season the JGMS Boys’ Soccer team received leadership from the team captains (L – R): Ansel Chiou, Sanders Bertos, Dylan Kenahan, and Will Gallant. Photo: C. Lennox.

The defensive line was nearly impenetrable. Captains Ansel Chiou (captain), Dylan Kenahan (captain), and Will Gallant (captain), along with Theo Parmentier, Greyson Kordelski, Cohen Larimore, Thomas Kennedy, Asher Mathew, and Callan Beimel contributed to the defensive wall.

Will Gallant proved a double threat as the leading scorer with six goals during the season in addition to his stellar defense.

Sanders Bertos (captain) and Bradley Huo frustrated defenses all year with their footwork and ball control with each of them scoring three goals.

Seventh-graders Thomas Kennedy and Tedy Dimitrov made a quick impact on the heavily eighth-grade team, scoring two goals and one goal respectively.

Additional goal scorers included Alan Li (2), Ryan Venuti (1), Ansel Chiou (1), and Cohen Larimore (1).

Liam O’Kane, Alex Stroni, Alan Li, and Sid Nambiar provided constant pressure on the attacks.

Kfir Yaniv, Austin Day, Ryan Venuti, and Kieran Heid used their speed and aggressiveness at midfield to help both offensively and defensively.

Christian Reyes, Colin Liu, Gabriel Courtemanche, Liam Fitzgerald, Ryan Carvalho, Titus Ahn, Nisarg Joshi, Aaron Merchant, Charandeepreddy Vakamalla, and Alex Santaella also came off the bench to add a new dimension to the field.
