December is a wonderful month to visit Chip-in Farm. As winter approaches, animals grow long coats and settle into hay beds in the barn to stay warm, and the farm store is stocked with local root vegetables, apples, cider, and freshly laid eggs.

Regular business hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays through Sundays. The farm is located at 201 Hartwell Road.

Chip-in Farm is holding special events in December:

Farmer’s Helpers Saturday Programs

Farmer’s Helpers programs teach children about farming through stories, games, crafts, real farm work, and caring for farm animals, including baby goats, cows, and the farm’s miniature horse and pony.

This winter, the farm is introducing weekend programs. Classes meet on Saturdays starting Dec. 2. There is a Little Farmer’s (ages 3 – 5) morning session from 10 a.m. to noon, and a Farmer’s session for kids, ages 5 to 9 in the afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. Register for a single class or the entire four-week session via the Bedford Recreation Department website at https://bit.ly/46AQE39.

A Visit from the North Pole!

Come to the farm from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 for holiday cheer with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, mini reindeer, and elves. Warm up with hot cocoa while enjoying activities that include pony rides and letters to Santa.

There is no charge for the event, but a suggested donation of $20 per family to benefit Home at Last Farm is welcome. They are a nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates mini horses, donkeys, and ponies. Register for the event at https://bit.ly/3R0cyXH.

Bedford Minuteman Company’s Annual Luminaria Sale

Bedford has a long tradition of lighting luminaries along its streets near Bedford Common and throughout the town on Christmas Eve. This year, Chip-in Farm will once again host the Bedford Minuteman Company’s annual luminaria sale. Each kit is $15 and includes 12 bags, votives, and sand and will be available throughout the month while supplies last.

All proceeds from this sale will benefit the Bedford Minuteman Company’s Memorial Scholarship Program.

Festive Wreaths, Table Decorations & Greens

Once again, Chip-in Farm will not be selling Christmas trees but will have a festive collection of locally produced wreaths, table decorations, and greens.

The Chip-in Farm family thanks residents of Bedford and surrounding communities for their support throughout the year, and sends warmest wishes during this holiday season.
