The Bedford High School Buccaneers scored three unanswered second-half goals to pull away from Doherty Memorial of Worcester on Monday, winning 4-1 in the preliminary round of the MIAA Division 2 state boys soccer tournament.
Bedford will host Reading in the second round Wednesday at 7 p.m. Reading beat Wayland 2-0 to advance.
The Buccaneers, top seed in Division 2, and Doherty, which had to win a play-in game to secure the 32nd spot, were tied 1-1 at the half.
