Eunha Basu, a Bedford native, will compete as a division finalist in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) East Central Division Junior Piano Competition.
Eunha, the daughter of Soo Kim and Sanjay Basu, earned this opportunity after winning the New Hampshire State MTNA Junior Piano Competition. An eighth grader at The Winsor School, Eunha has been studying piano for 10 years and is currently a student of Mila Filatova.
Eunha has won top prizes since the age of six at numerous state, regional, and international competitions, including first place wins at Steinway Piano Competition, Chopin International Piano Competition, and multiple first place wins at Bay State Competition, among others.
She has also performed at Boston Symphony Hall and Carnegie Hall. Eunha also enjoys giving community concerts with her chamber trio in senior living centers and raising awareness of food insecurity through Music for Food.
The winner of the 12-state division competition will compete in the National Finals. Division winners will be announced in mid-January.
The three-tiered MTNA competitions begin at the state level. Winners of each state competition advance to the Division Competition. Division winners then proceed to the national competition finals.
