Superintendent Update – October 27, 2023

Superintendent Chuang’s update to the Bedford Public Schools community sent on October 27, 2023.

Dear Bedford Public School Community,

Please click here to read today’s Superintendent Update or you may view a “text only” version below:

Cliff’s Notes

This week, I got the chance to get to the know the JGMS community a bit better. Last Friday, I chaperoned the hopping JGMS Fall Social. On Tuesday, I spoke to several JGMS (and other parents) at the final Trail Walk & Talk. On Thursday, I met the JGMS School Council. And the highlight of the week was chaperoning the first day and night of the annual 6th grade field trip to Nature’s Classroom. It was wonderful to get to know some JGMS educators better, and to learn the unique personalities of 34 energetic 6th grade boys in the Sycamore Cabin. Please enjoy the sounds of analog fun (unplugged, with no technology!) from Sycamore cabin via this 8-second audio postcard. Be glad that I am unable to share the smells!

Sincerely,
Cliff Chuang 莊 宏 毅
Superintendent, Bedford Public Schools

Another Update on these Updates

Thanks to those who shared feedback on the format of this update. By popular demand, I will be sticking with this new format for now, which provides for full translation and easier navigation on all devices. However, we will also plan to include a text-only version in the body of the email we send each week when the update is first published while we continue to problem-solve whether we can have the full formatting within the body of an email message and maintain an accurate email directory for all families. We also received feedback about receiving too much email from the school district, especially from parents who have multiple children. It is not practical to centralize all communications from classroom teachers, schools, and the district (this would severely impede the ability of teachers and administrators to communicate to targeted audiences), but I will attempt to be strategic about any redundancies as much as possible. Also, please remember that you can unsubscribe from receiving various messages from the district (or just delete unwanted messages).
