The Bedford Water Division will be flushing hydrants to ensure clean, clear water throughout the distribution system. The work will be done weekdays between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM beginning Monday October 16 to Friday October 20. The program starts at the Lexington meter vaults and moves northwesterly across Bedford. Signs will be set out the day before flushing in each specific area of town.
If you experience rusty water please let your cold water tap run for several minutes. If the water does not clear, or if you have any questions, please contact the Bedford Department of Public Works at (781) 275-7605, ext. 4255.
Thank you for your cooperation through this semi-annual program.

I call your attention the phrase, “at the Lexington meter vaults,” which has appeared in the DPW’s semiannual hydrant-flushing announcement for years. I’ve lived here for a lot of years, and I still don’t know where these vaults are located. Do you think anyone outside the DPW knows this? Sure, we can infer that it must be somewhere on or near our eastern border, but would it kill ya to use words that mere mortals can understand?
