Recycling Know No’s: Trash Reminders and Alerts

September 19, 2023

By Liz Antanavica, Trash & Recycling Administrator

How do you remember your trash day? Are you a “look out to window to see what my neighbors are doing” kind of person? Maybe you keep the Annual Trash Guide in your junk drawer? Maybe you wish there was a way to get a weekly reminder – now you can!

Residents can now sign up for collection day reminders or service alerts using the new Waste Wizard tool on the Town Website. These reminders can be sent to email, phone or iCal, depending on your preference. Never miss a trash day or holiday delay again with Collection Reminders.

If you don’t need a weekly reminder, but would benefit from real time service alerts, like snow delay or access issues, Service Alerts does just that. Service Alerts are especially useful as we head into the winter months. DPW can send important messages, via email or text, directly to those residents impacted. If a route has to be modified due to incoming weather, residents signed up for Service Alerts will receive that information directly to their preferred device.
