September 21, 2023

Submitted by Bedford Garden Club

Enjoy golf? Or a gift card for groceries at Wegman’s? These are just twPlo of the seven exciting raffle prizes that will be available at the Bedford Garden Club’s Bedford Day booth on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The golf gift certificate will provide a round of golf for four, with carts, at the Bedford VA Hospital’s golf course – a value of approximately $200. The Wegman’s gift card will buy the winner $100 worth of groceries.

Raffle tickets will be available at the Garden Club booth adjacent to Town Hall. The prices: $1 for one ticket, $5 for six tickets, and $10 for 13 tickets.

Other raffle items will include:

  • A hydrangea plant, plus planting it – a donation from Garden Club President Patty Carluccio ($75-$100 value).
  • $50 gift certificate to Pepper’s Grille Restaurant.
  • $50 gift certificate to The Great Wall Restaurant.
  • A garden donation from McCue’s Nursery in Billerica, a $50 value.
  • A $50 gift card to New England Nursery.

Other sale items at the booth will include fall mums, asters, and a few fall-blooming perennials (such as sneezeweed and sedum); indoor plants grown by club members; six hand-decorated pumpkins; Mason Jar flower arrangements, the Garden Club’s note cards, and some humorous wooden garden signs (such as “I Wet My Plants” and “Weeds for Sale”).

A special booth activity again this year will be the free “pot-a-plant” endeavor to teach Bedford children about the importance of gardening.

Garden Club Yard Sale

The Bedford Garden Club also will hold a yard sale on Bedford Day at the home of Gayle Lewis, 12 School Ave. behind the Fire Station – just a few steps away from the Bedford Day booths.

The yard sale, to run from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., will have garden items such as pots, tools, gardening books, recipe books featuring home-grown foods, plant stands, unused plant markers, garden tool belts or bags, indoor plants in decorative pots, and other gently-used garden-related items for sale.

Also, for sale will be athletic equipment including bicycles, and children’s games.
