Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) has launched its inaugural Hospital at Home program to provide inpatient-level care for patients in the comfort of their home, including in Bedford.
The service is now available for eligible patients at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. BILH plans to offer this new program at other hospitals within the system over the next few years, beginning with Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals and Winchester Hospital within the next year.
Patients will have 24/7 access to their care team and will be seen with a combination of in-person and telehealth visits. Patients will be provided with all necessary technology including equipment to monitor their vital signs, a telephone to connect directly with their care team and a computer tablet for video visits with the care team. Typical services such as lab tests, IV therapies, X-rays, and ultrasounds will all be available to be performed in the home.
Care teams will work directly with patients to determine their eligibility for Hospital at Home.
“Our Hospital at Home program will provide patients with the same high-quality care they would receive in any BILH hospital,” said Michael Rowan, Executive Vice President for Hospital and Ambulatory Services, BILH. “The innovative model allows patients to recover in their own homes with direct and seamless access to their care team.”

We believe this model is a unique opportunity to change the way we provide care.”
