BHS Relay Teams Take a First Place, Two Seconds, in Divisional Meet

Seven of the Bedford High School boys’ and girls’ relay teams were medalists at Friday’s Division 4 relay meet at Pembroke High School.

The boys finished seventh overall and the girls were 10th. The BHS girls’ track team is undefeated after three dual meets this spring.

In Friday’s relays, the Bucs were led by the four-by-800-meter relay team – Josh Garraway, Jonny Garraway, Carter Rauch, and Oren Brosgol – which placed first with a time of eight minutes, 25.53 seconds. 

Thirty minutes after winning, the same team raced in the distance medley relay (1,200 meters – 400 meters – 800 meters – 1,600 meters) and placed third with a time of 11 minutes, 27.75 seconds.

Meanwhile, Grace Niu, Anna Massaro, Samantha Sheahan, and Zadie Buckley, the girls’ four-by-800 relay team, placed second with a time of 10 minutes, 19.27 seconds. 

Also finishing second was the boys’ pole vault relay with a combined jump of 7.74 meters. The competitors were Aashutosh Budathoki (jump of 2.73 meters), Peter Benson (also 2.73), and Dominic Giusti (2.28).

The girls’ shot put relay placed third with a combined throw of 24.03 meters, led by Jessica Lin (10.29), with Brooke D’Andrea (7.17) and Sophia Panagiotou (6.57). The girls’ pole vault relay also placed third with a combined jump of 5.94 meters. The vaulters were Farrah Scott (jump of 2.13 meters), Taelor Nichols (1.98), and Larah Maldonado Cruz (1.83)

Also, the boys’ four-by-100-meter relay placed fifth with a time of 46.21 seconds. The sprinters were Andrew Tram, Vivek Joseph, Aashutosh Budathoki, and Martin Nguyen.
