Bedford’s assistant health director for the past eight years has started work with the state Department of Public Health.
Katharine Dagle is the training coordinator for the DPH housing program, a new position in the agency.
The director of the town’s Health and Human Services Department, Heidi Porter, told the Board of Health Monday that she has advertised the position and would like to fill it as soon as possible.
Porter has engaged a retired health director from Raynham as a consultant to handle some of Dagle’s duties, such as inspections. The board Monday voted to appoint Alan Perry as a health agent, providing him with the authority required for certain inspectional services.
Dagle is the second Health Department staff member to move to a DPH position in recent months. Mark Waksmonski, former Bedford community nurse, now coordinates the Board of Registration in Nursing SARP, an alternative to discipline program for nurses.
