Ta Da! Arriving This Week: The Fourth Annual Edition of The Bedford Guide

November 16, 2022

by Joan Bowen and Ginni Spencer, Co-Presidents, The Bedford Citizen

The latest edition of The Bedford Guide will arrive in mailboxes this week and offers a look back at the past year and the events and people who stood out to help make our town such a lively and interesting place to live. We extend sincere thanks to the many loyal sponsors who support the publication of The Guide – you will find a complete list on page 2 and we encourage you to patronize them and extend your own thanks for all they do to support both The Guide and The Bedford Citizen itself.

One of The Guide’s most popular features is the celebration of “Bedford Citizens Among Us.” Designed to highlight the work of individuals who often toil behind the scenes to enhance our community life, The Bedford Citizen recognizes their commitment and participation. This year our spotlight shines on Daisy Girifalco, Audrey Gould, Geoff Chase, Sue Turner, and Paul Purchia. Their accomplishments are significant and inspiring; they exemplify an aspect of citizenship that reflects both leadership and teamwork.  Take a look.

And don’t miss the summaries of what happened in our local government, youth and school sports, and music and the arts…this is a busy town! And The Guide is packed with ideas and information from trail maps to dining out tips and how YOU can get more involved in Bedford life. Local cats (at least one particular cat) and dogs (who knew they worked so hard?) are also recognized in articles that will make you smile.

One last thing: we did toot our own horn just a little within these pages.  We are so proud to mark 10 YEARS of publication in 2022. Our hats are off to our founders (featured on page 4) and in particular to Julie Turner who served as the Managing Editor of The Bedford Citizen from its inception until October of this year; our salute to her will be found on page 29.  Don’t miss it.

A final shout-out to Guide editor and Board member Gene Kalb and his team for their hard work assembling The Bedford Guide. Your enthusiasm and diligence are deeply appreciated by your colleagues at The Bedford Citizen.

As always, we thank you, our readers, and the many volunteers and donors who support us every day.  We eagerly look forward to another decade of serving our community.
