The Bedford Citizen extends a warm welcome to Jennifer Stewart who joined our staff as Content Manager on September 1. Her responsibilities will include posting articles, managing social media, and working with the paper’s Editorial Committee to generate content ideas, review stories in progress, and ensure conformity with editorial policies.

Stewart, who has lived in Bedford since 2007, has an active and varied volunteer history here.  She works with the Neighbor Brigade, Project Linus, Bedford Santa, and Destination Imagination.  Her responsibilities in those organizations have included everything from IT director to webmaster to online registration coordinator.  She participates in the Bedford Parent-Teacher organizations (BHSPA, MSPA, BEST/PTO) and served on the School Council at both the John Glenn Middle School and the High School. She was a member of the Covid-19 Re-Opening Committee from 2020 through 2021. Stewart graduated from Trinity College with a degree in biomedical engineering and completed her Master’s degree at MIT in mechanical engineering.

Stewart and her husband, Dave, have three children.  Their oldest daughter begins college this fall and they have another daughter and son who are both at Bedford High School.  Coaching soccer and attending and photographing games has been a focus recently and that has sparked further interest in learning about nature photography.  A self-described problem solver who likes to figure out how to make things operate more efficiently, Stewart’s skills will be readily put to use as The Citizen continues to grow.

The Citizen has evolved into an important resource for Bedford.  I am happy to have the opportunity to support, enhance, and expand the organization,” Stewart said.

“She has the skills we need as we move into our second decade of publication.  Her volunteer connections and experience in Bedford will serve her well in this position,” said Joan Bowen, co-president of The Citizen.  “We are delighted to welcome her aboard.”
