Upgrades to the skate park behind Town Center should be complete by early spring, according to Recreation Director Josh Smith.
Agreements with vendors have been executed, and the work could take as long as six months to complete when considering supply difficulties, Smith said.
The project, financed from the community preservation fund, is not a remodeling, Smith said. “It’s not a new design. We are going to replace it as is.”
That means the structures — six decks, some side rails, back supports – will be upgraded with new equipment, he explained. “Everything will be new and safe and operational.”
In addition, Smith said, “we’re working with the Department of Public Works on fixing some fencing.” There are no plans to replace the surface, he noted.
