Former Home Goods Space Close to Occupancy, Broker Says

July 20, 2022

A new tenant is close to committing to the former Home Goods space in the Great Road Shopping Center, according to the broker handling the transaction.

John Ferris, senior vice president with the property’s listing broker, said Monday, “We are very close to going to lease with a tenant for Home Goods, a tenant that people know and I think will like.”

Ferris declined to identify the prospect, preferring to wait until the lease is signed. That could take a couple more months, he said, but “we are very close there.”

Home Goods closed on Jan. 15, 2021. At 29,000 square feet, the store is one of the larger anchors in the 208,000-square-foot shopping center. It’s not as apparent as other larger stores because it is at the intersection of the “L-shaped complex.

Ferris works for CBRE, which has offices in more than 100 countries and calls itself “the global leader in commercial real estate services and investment.”

“He said there is also “a lot of interest” in the space occupied until last January by The Paper Store. The landlord is “doing what it takes” to market that space, Ferris said, and that could include subdividing for more than one tenant.

“It’s in the early stages, but overall the interest has been pretty good,” the official said.
