Next Round for Girls’ Lax Saturday Night at Home

The Bedford High School girls’ lacrosse team will entertain Leominster in the second round of the MIAA state tournament Saturday at 7 p.m. on Sabourin Field.

Leominster, ranked 19th, upset Milton on Wednesday.  The third-ranked Buccaneers dominated Marblehead Thursday afternoon, 16-6.

The Bucs left no doubt about the eventual outcome, racing to a 6-0 lead after six minutes. The advantage at the break was 11-3. Bedford exploded for three more scores in a minute and a half span midway through the second half to ensure an easy victory.

Abby Morrissey and Allie Zorn each found the back of the net four times for the Bucs. Sophie Morrisey (three), Astrid Yerqardi (two), Gabby Zovko (two), and Cassie Morrison completed the scoring

The boys’ team was eliminated by second-ranked Norwell on Thursday.
