Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Bedford Garden Club’s annual sale of geraniums, perennials, and fresh-cut flower arrangements is planned for Saturday, May 7, in front of the Bedford DPW Building, 314 The Great Road.
Starting at 10 am, the sale will offer floral arrangements that are great gifts for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 8. Also, the most popular colors of geraniums will be available for sale.
Perennials for sale have been donated from the yards of Garden Club members and from Christine Wilson, a local perennial garden designer of both formal and informal garden spaces whose business is called “The Duchess of Dirt.”
Numerous perennials, both native and non-native, will be available. Just a few of the varieties include Peonies, Campanula, Rose of Sharon, Jacob’s Ladder, Foxglove, Lupine, white Bearded Iris, Shasta Daisies, yellow Primrose, Blood Root, Ladies’ Mantle, Monarda (Bee Balm), Phlox and Filipendula Rubra (Queen of the Prairie).
There will be a Raffle on the day of the event for three plants: a hydrangea bush, a dish garden, and a third “surprise” plant. Raffle tickets will be available only at the DPW site and will sell for $1 each, 6 for $5.00, or 13 for $10.00. The winners will be announced when the Club’s sale ends at 3 pm and will be contacted afterward to collect their prizes. Winners do not have to be present at the 3 pm drawing.
This event is the Bedford Garden Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year and will be held rain or shine from 10 am—3 pm. Funds raises will help support the Club’s scholarships given each year through CSF – Bedford.
