I am writing in support of both Ron O’Brien and Emily Mitchell for Select Board.
Ron served 7 years on Bedford’s Conservation Commission, and is the facilities Director at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). He is a civil engineer, and in his leadership role, also handles union negotiations. Given the nature of Select Board work, this experience is pertinent and valuable. Most of all, Ron is one of the kindest, most thoughtful, and most patient people I know. During the Covid crisis, he dedicated himself to very long days, exhaustively redoing the WPI campus to support safe protocols. I also observed him being very generous on a one-to-one basis, for instance sneaking in big tips when restaurants were struggling.
Emily has served Bedford diligently and faithfully for a term, and we are lucky to have her. She has an astonishing work ethic, is one of the smartest people I know, and yet approaches everything from a perspective of warmth and kindness. She has earned another term.
Both of them have raised their families here, and understand first-hand the housing, traffic, water, and energy challenges that Bedford faces. Please vote for Ron and Emily!
