Board of Assessors Seeks Applicants to Fill Vacancy  Residents Urged to Apply

March 23, 2022

Residents are invited to consider applying to fill a vacancy on the Board of Assessors.

Town Manager Sarah Stanton informed the Select Board Monday that Assessor Joseph Gilbert has resigned, as he will be moving to another town.

The board will meet with the remaining two assessors – Rebecca Neale and newly-elected Nancy Wolk – to choose a replacement from among applicants. That meeting is expected to take place on April 25; the appointment will expire on election day in March 2023.

“I encourage folks to find out about this position – it’s extremely important,” said Select Board Chair Emily Mitchell. “What you have to do is precise and well-documented.”

Stanton said she and the director of the Assessing Department, Matthew Lanefski, as well as current and former assessors, are available as resources.
