I am writing in support of Kelly Horton for School Committee. I met Kelly this past year and am impressed with her willingness to lead. She shows tenacity and is a kind, warm person.
I am particularly impressed with her advocacy last year for the many families who wanted their kids to have safe in-person learning. She was also supportive of the families who felt differently and were more comfortable with remote learning. To me, Kelly has proven that she is a true leader because she understands multiple sides of an issue, even if what she feels is best for her family is different than what other families want.
I also feel it is also important for the School Committee to have several members with younger children in our schools. Kelly has 3 children, ages 4, 7 and 10. For years to come she will have her finger on the pulse of what is happening in the schools before meetings. She will also be accessible to talk with parents at school events, on the sidelines and around town.
The best committees have members with multiple points of view who are willing to engage and discuss the issues before them. Kelly has proven that she gets herself informed about issues and I believe will be an excellent addition to the Bedford School Committee.
