The Bedford Citizen has a policy regarding how it will respond to members of our Board of Directors running for local office. The objective of this policy is to affirm to our readers that The Citizen’s coverage of the election cycle is unbiased and beyond influence.
To that end, if a member of The Citizen’s Board chooses to run for a local office, contested or uncontested, that decision automatically triggers a Leave of Absence from the Board until the conclusion of the election cycle, i.e., Election Day. During the period of Leave, our Board member may not attend any Board meetings of The Citizen or participate in decision making in any manner. They will be removed from all internal mailing lists for the period of Leave.
If elected, they may return to active status with recusal required on any matters before The Citizen’s Board of Directors that are or may appear to be a conflict of interest between the two positions.
