When bombs explode outside your windows you know it is local news. As I write this, the world spotlight is on Kyiv and the current invasion by Russian troops.
While international news outlets offer ongoing coverage, local online news sources in Kyiv report on what they witness. The Bedford Citizen has learned about one with an online English language edition, The Kyiv Independent.
Good information is always important.
Local news in Bedford is not frightening, or life-threatening as it is now in Kyiv, but rather an accumulation of events, decisions, and policies that, if unmonitored, can have major impacts on our community.
Whether in Bedford or Kyiv, local news helps all of us to stay informed and participate in the democratic process.
