Based on early forecasts of overnight snow lasting well into the day, town offices and schools announced closures early on Thursday, creating a bonus three-day weekend. Flakes began to fall in Bedford between 2 and 3 am, and plows were clearing main roads before sunrise.

The National Weather Service in Mt. Holly, NJ, tweeted its directions for accurately measuring snowfall.  Readers who create a measuring station are invited to email their general location in Bedford along with their snow total to [email protected] when clear skies return.
