Letter To the Editor: Application Deadline for Shawsheen Tech ~ February 1

~ Submitted by Brian O’Donnell, Bedford Representative to the Shawsheen Tech School Committee

It is a good time to remind Bedford Public Schools families that the deadline for applying for fall admission to the Shawsheen Vocational Technical High School’s Class of 2026 is rapidly approaching.

February 1st is the deadline to apply for a Grade 9 entering class that is projected to have up to thirty-four slots for students from Bedford.  Applications from Bedford (and the other four towns in the Shawsheen district) have already surpassed last year’s applicant totals with less than two weeks to go before the admissions deadline.

It is not too late to make inquiries and submit an application before the February 1st deadline.  Much information, including application forms, is available at www.shawsheentech.org.

Recent modifications to Shawsheen’s application procedures should prove beneficial to Bedford students interested in any of the twenty (20) vocational and technical programs offered at Shawsheen as well as the twenty-one (21) sports programs, myriad extracurricular activities (e.g. robotics, esports, glee club) and cooperative education opportunities with Shawsheen’s extensive roster of business partners.

Interested students and families are also encouraged to get information from guidance personnel at John Glenn Middle School, or Bedford’s representatives to the Shawsheen School Committee, Nancy Asbedian and Brian O’Donnell.
