CAST ‘A’

CAST ‘B’

After the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 production of Frozen, Jr., the directing staff wasn’t sure if a middle school musical could happen this year. With Bedford High School leading the way with a successful Zoom production of She Kills Monsters in November and a plan for the Les Miserables film in the spring, the wheels started turning to bring musical theatre back to the middle school.

Auditions were held in February, with online rehearsals through mid-March. The show was double-cast, to accommodate fewer students rehearsing and performing at one time. As public-health restrictions eased, more students came back to in-person school more frequently, and new guidelines from DESE allowed indoor singing with restrictions, the cast shifted to in-person after-school rehearsals in the spring.

The show was filmed by Bedford TV and will be streamed to audiences at home via ShowTix4U. Unlike BHS’s recent production of Les Miserables, which was conceived and produced as a movie with multiple locations and pre-recorded audio tracks, Charlie Brown’s streamed production captures a “normal” live performance in the JGMS auditorium.

Amy Budka directs the production, assisted by Aidan Tatar. Linda Aiken serves as music director, and Jennifer Buckley is the choreographer. Emily Mitchell is the parent and production coordinator, and Audrey Gould is the costumer. Nearly 60 middle schoolers are involved in the cast and crew.

The show is appropriate for all ages, and will run approximately one hour and 30 minutes, including a brief intermission.
