Mid-December Nor’Easter Dumped 14 to 16 Inches of Snow on Bedford

December 17, 2020
Although not down to dry pavement, Route 62 was clearly driveable shortly after sunset on Thursday afternoon.

Department of Public Works crews, backed by private contractors, are continuing snow removal operations through Thursday evening and into early Friday morning.

DPW Director David Manugian said the operators will take a few hours to rest after a shift of about 30 hours straight before returning to tackle sidewalks and other cleanup projects.

Editor’s Note: In an early evening message to families on Thursday, Superintendent of Schools Philip Conrad urged that students who walk to school take particular care or be driven to school until the sidewalk plowing is complete.

Manugian said the depth of Thursday’s prolonged snowfall varied between 14 and 16 inches.

He added that there were no unusual incidents and that the vast majority of residents and businesses were cooperative in facilitating the snow clearance.
