Work this week was to make the final fittings and connections to operate the dredge equipment while continuing to run the weed harvester across the lake.  The harvester has now removed approximately 75 cubic yards of aquatic vegetation which is currently stockpiled at the boat launch to continue draining.  As noted in the project plan, the southwestern portion of the lake is not being cleared;  this will maintain the current habitat for species that exist in this type of resource area.

1,700 linear feet of 6-inch diameter intake and discharge hoses were assembled over the lawn and up to the dewatering equipment.  The hoses were floated out to the eastern section of the lake where the anchor barge was set.  The anchor barge will guide the dredger so that the overlap covers each section of the lake bottom.

On Friday afternoon, the first section of the Lake was dredged!  For the countless hours of committee work, meetings, funding requests, reports, permitting, designing, and set up, this is a momentous achievement.  The dredge work will now continue daily for approximately 8 – 10 weeks.

There was no work at the dam this week;  the site has been cleared of brush and stumps and the contractor has ordered the sheet piles, scheduled for delivery August 21st.

As previously noted, the trails through both worksites are currently closed.  Please do not enter the areas, even after work hours.  The cables, uneven ground, loose materials, and heavy equipment make the areas unsafe for the general public. There are alternate trails that provide pedestrian access around Fawn Lake without having to cross through the two construction zones.
