Celebrating Chinese New Year at the Bedford Free Public Library

Compiled by The Bedford Citizen

Scores of families visited the Chinese New Year celebration at the Bedford Free Public Library on Saturday.

Children’s librarian Bethany Klem thanked all the participants, particularly the volunteers from the Bedford High School Chinese American Club who helped with the activities. Cupcakes celebrated the Year of the Pig, there was origami, and a game of skill (using chopsticks, it’s much simpler to pick up a gummy bear than a jelly bean!), along with stickers, stamps. Then there was calligraphy, where everyone went home with their name written in Chinese characters.

Among the volunteers were Andrew Want, Leonardo Chen, Michelle Malone, Derek Shao, Dhruv Goel, and Alan Wang who attended his first library New Year celebration in 2005.
