By Caroline Sepe and Jeff Hoyland
Caroline Sepe, a junior at Bedford High School, chose her community service project event through the business club, DECA. The organization Caroline chose to raise money for was Bedford High School’s LABBB program. LABBB is a program that prepares kids with intellectual and developmental disabilities for the working adult world.
Caroline decided that she would sell Lasagna Dinners with the help of her grandmother, Sestina Macaro. The take-home meals on February 11th included: a big slice of lasagna, green beans, and a bread roll with each order.
Along with her helpers Lauren Young, Jefferson Aweh-Kisob, Niamh Heffernan, Ashley Tonini, Swetha Susarla, Anika Hodge, Alex Oleksinski, Ryan Knight, Jack Venuti, Adam Driscoll, Emma Ferrari, and her family, Caroline created a drive-through experience for the people who ordered the dinners.
Fifteen trays of lasagna and 175 dinners later, the fundraiser raised $1500 for the LABBB Program. The funds will go towards materials, field trips, and financial support for children in the program. Caroline would like to thank the Bedford community for being so supportive and making this such a success.
Although fundraising for Bedford LABBB through this event is finished, you can get more information and donate at https://labbb.com/main/Defaultmain.aspx.
