Compiled by The Bedford Citizen
Church bells will peal across Bedford at 11 am on Sunday, November 11 in observance of the Centenary of the Armistice signed at 11 am on November 11, 1918, to end World War I.
While bells at First Church of Christ, Congregational and First Parish Unitarian Universalist will be heard in Bedford Center, others will ring figuratively, indoors during Sunday services at St. Michael Parish, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and First Baptist Church.
The American Legion will hold a short flag-raising ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park at 11:11 am, the time the actual Armistice document was signed in 1918.
The Citizen has also learned that St. Paul’s will host a Veteran’s Appreciation Dinner on Saturday evening, at which the Anniversary of the Armistice was observed with prayers and the ringing of bells.
